The much-awaited national convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held in Abuja yesterday with former Governor of Edo state, Adams Oshiomhole, emerging the new national chairman of party.
Oshiomhole, a former labour leader, succeeds Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, the previous party chairman who also came from Edo state.
Badaru Abubakar, governor of Jigawa and chairman of the convention committee, announced that he emerged unopposed.
President Buhari, while addressing party delegates from all the 36 states of the country at the convention, told his party men that despite a few lingering issues with the congresses in some states, the party will emerge stronger after this convention.
“The unresolved cases we have is the price we have to pay for success, as everyone wants to be associated with a winning team. I am imploring all those with grievances to keep faith with the party until we put things right,” Buhari said at the convention.
